The Crucifixion

 Studio unknown

1926

This window pictures Christ on the Cross with Mary at his feet.  The inscription reads, “To the glory of God and in loving memory of J(ames) M(oreau) Brown (1821-1895) and family” by his granddaughter, Mrs. J.M. Jumonville (Alice Sweeny).  Mr. Brown built the first of Galveston’s great mansions, called Ashton Villa, after his wife’s maiden name.  The home still draws thousands of visitors each year.  Mr. Brown owned a brickyard near Lynchburg which produced many of the original bricks for Trinity Church.
