Given to the glory of God and in memory of

Mrs. William Thaddeus Conklin (Sarah Rebecca Frosh) 1857-1936

This window, dedicated on Easter Day, 1938, depicts the Resurrection scene of the Angel appearing to the Three Women.  The women are the three Marys (Mark 16:1) who come to the tomb are the three daughters of Saint Anne; the Madonna, Mary of Cleophas, and Mary of Salome.  The appearance of Jesus to the Disciples on the Seashore is the subject of the scene in the small panel at the bottom of the window.

Sarah Rebecca Frosh was the only child of Lawrence Frosh and Jane L. Francis Frosh.  Mr. Frosh was a prominent Galveston wholesale merchant and ship’s chandler whose business was located at the intersection of Tremont and Strand.  Lawrence Frosh was a member of the Vestry of Trinity Church 1852-1854 and was a lay delegate to the diocesan convention of 1851.  The Conklin home was one of the first mansions built in Galveston and stood on the northeast corner of Tremont and Broadway.  It was considered one of the best examples of Georgian architecture in Texas until its demolition in 1952.
