The Reverend Ronald D. Pogue

The Reverend Ronald D. Pogue became Trinity’s tenth rector in September of 1999.  He came to Galveston from Christ Church Cathedral in Houston where he was Canon Missioner.  Father Pogue holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Houston, a Master of Divinity degree from Emory University, and a Doctor of Ministry degree from Houston Graduate School of Theology. 

 Throughout his thirty-five year ministry, he has had a keen interest in community issues, including refugee resettlement, programs for homeless people, the unemployed, the mentally ill and handicapped, and persons with HIV/AIDS.  He is also concerned with historic preservation and community revitalization.  Before coming to Galveston, Father Pogue served a two-year term as Chair of the Downtown Historic District, an organization concerned with the revitalization of the north end of Downtown Houston.  He has served two terms on the board of the Galveston Historical Foundation.  He has served the Episcopal Diocese of Texas in various capacities, including eight years as Ecumenical Officer and two yeas as Dean of the Galveston Convocation.  His contributions to the community have been recognized by the Jaycees, the National Conference of Christians and Jews, the National Association of Social Workers, the Boy Scouts of America, and other organizations. 

 At Trinity, Father Pogue is the spiritual leader of the parish, responsible for leading the staff, presiding over the vestry and school board, and upholding the vision of the parish as a welcoming community sharing the good news of Jesus Christ through worship, fellowship, learning & service.

 Father Pogue and his wife, Gay, the parents of two grown sons.  Gay is a teacher at Texas City High School and an artist.
