Financial Administrator

Overview

Trinity Episcopal Church believes it is our duty to serve as faithful stewards for all that God has given us.

 

The Financial Administrator is a full-time staff position that oversees the financial management for Trinity Episcopal Church and the William Temple Foundation. Working directly for the Rector of Trinity Episcopal Church, the Financial Administrator is a key member of the lay staff and works directly with the Treasurer and Finance Committee of the parish. The Financial Administrator is expected to handle confidential information with integrity and care.

 

Key Responsibilities
 

  1. Financial Management

    1. Maintain accurate financial records of donations and send periodic giving statements to donors

    2. Pay invoices in a timely manner, including payroll, utilities, insurance, and credit card statements

    3. Maintain accurate record of income and expenses

    4. Coordinate shared expenses with Trinity Episcopal School and the William Temple Foundation

  2. Implementation of parish vision

    1. Serve as resource and administrative support for the annual pledge campaign and capital campaigns

    2. Work with Treasurer, Rector, and Finance Committee to draft annual budget

    3. Orient new Vestry members to financial operations of the church 

  3. Reporting

    1. Coordinate the annual audit with a firm approved by the Vestry

    2. File the financial portion of the annual Parochial Report to the Episcopal Church

    3. Reconcile monthly multiple bank statements

    4. Provide monthly financial notes, balance sheets, bank statements, and revenue and expense statements to the Finance Committee and Vestry 

    5. Provide financial statements to the board of the William Temple Foundation for called meetings, pay a small number of invoices, and transfer funds to Trinity Church

    1. The Financial Administrator will need to work with a variety of volunteers and staff from both Trinity Church, Trinity School, and the William Temple Foundation. This complex position calls for someone who can work with many different people in a faith-based environment

    1. For example, the people who donate to Trinity Church trust that these institutions will be faithful stewards of what they have been given. The Financial Administrator will need to be an honest and accountable staff member whom donors can trust with some of their most precious resources. 
       

  3. Attentive to detail

    1. Trinity Church is a complex financial organization with various revenue streams, savings, and expenses. The Financial Administrator must be able to handle the intricacies of our financial situation thoroughly and accurately.

    2. This position will also require the Financial Administrator to keep the records, accounting, invoices, and revenues of these three institutions separate. 
       

  4. Vision focused

    1. Trinity Episcopal Church is a growing congregation, and the Financial Administrator will need to envision future financial needs of the church while helping us care for our historic property and buildings.

 

Qualifications and Education
 

  1. College degree preferred

  2. Knowledge of non-profit accounting principles and practices

  3. Able to utilize cloud-based church accounting and database software

  4. Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite
