Organ Recital and Choral Evensong at Trinity Episcopal Church

About Choral Evensong

Choral Evensong is one of the most cherished liturgical traditions within the Anglican Church, blending Scripture, prayer, and music into a contemplative service at day’s end. Rooted in the 16th‑century Book of Common Prayer, it unites two ancient monastic offices—Vespers and Compline—into a single act of worship. The service includes sung psalms, canticles such as the Magnificat and Nunc Dimittis, and responses led by a choir, allowing much of the liturgy to be experienced through music rather than spoken word.

Evensong emphasizes beauty, stillness, and reflection, offering a space where listeners may participate simply by being present. Because much of the service is sung by the choir, it invites the congregagtion to meditate and dwell in the beauty of the music and the historic space at Trinity Church.
