Igniting the spiritual imagination
In 1998, Saint John's Abbey and University in Collegeville, Minnesota commissioned renowned calligrapher Donald Jackson to produce a hand-written, hand-illuminated Bible for the twenty-first century. This project culminated in the creation of the Saint John's Illuminated Bible.
The Heritage Edition of The Saint John's Illuminated Bible at Trinity Episcopal Church is a fine art edition of the original manuscript. Only 299 Heritage Editions exist in the world. The Saint John's Bible at Trinity is one of only eight available to the public in the state of Texas.
You are welome to turn the pages of The Saint John's Bible every Sunday at Trinity Episcopal Church. This Bible is also used in our various outreach and educational opportunities. If you would like to arrange a private visit to enjoy The Saint John's Bible, please contact the church office.

Ignite your spiritual imagination
The seven volumes of The Saint John's Bible are on rotating display on Sunday mornings and are available for parishioners to read and explore on weekdays.
Trinity has long been a patron of the arts, including the church itself, our unique organ, and our stained-glass windows. The Saint John's Bible will be yet another addition to the artistic treasures housed at Trinity.
While the Heritage Edition of The Saint John's Bible was given to Trinity, we see ourselves as stewards of it so that all the people of Galveston may experience the wonder and beauty of this incredible gift through tours, seminars, workshops, and other events.
